These terms apply when a consumer books a repair with The Device Hub Technology Limited trading as The Device Hub. They sit alongside your statutory rights, including the requirement that services are carried out with reasonable care and skill.
Booking, diagnosis & estimates
- In-store diagnosis is currently free. Mail-in bookings require a £10 diagnosis fee before we issue the prepaid inbound postage label.
- Repair categories and price ranges shown online are estimates based on the repair prices currently configured for the selected device. They are not a final quote.
- The exact fault, work required and final price are confirmed after diagnosis. We do not start chargeable repair work until you have approved the work and price.
- If further faults or costs are discovered, we will seek further approval before carrying out additional chargeable work.
Appointments
In-store appointments are offered only during our published opening hours: Monday to Friday 10am–6pm, Saturday 10am–4pm, Sunday closed. Availability is rechecked when a booking is submitted. If a selected slot has just been taken, you will be asked to choose another.
Mail-in repairs
- After the £10 mail-in diagnosis payment is confirmed, we provide a prepaid inbound postage label. Please wait for that label rather than arranging postage yourself unless we specifically agree otherwise.
- Use the supplied label exactly as instructed, package the device securely in a strong box with suitable protective padding, and keep proof that the parcel was accepted by the carrier until we confirm arrival.
- Remove SIM cards, memory cards and unrelated loose accessories. If an accessory is directly relevant to the fault, tell us before sending it.
- If a parcel sent with our supplied label is reported lost or damaged in transit, contact us promptly. We will investigate with the carrier and handle any carrier claim available to us. Your legal rights are not replaced by the carrier's compensation scheme.
- If you independently choose and contract with a different carrier instead of using our supplied method, responsibility for pursuing that carrier normally rests with the person who arranged that carriage, subject always to your statutory rights and any separate agreement with us.
- Return delivery arrangements and any applicable charge will be confirmed as part of the repair journey. Where we arrange return carriage, we remain responsible for performing our contractual obligations with reasonable care.
Your device & data
- Please back up important data before a repair where reasonably possible. Some repairs, diagnostics or manufacturer procedures can require a reset or can make existing data inaccessible.
- Tell us about passwords, activation locks, unusual damage or previous repairs where they may affect diagnosis or safe handling.
- We are not responsible for loss that was already present, inherent in the fault, or unavoidable despite reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms excludes liability where data loss or other damage is caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill or where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.
Parts, testing & warranty
We will tell you the material repair information available to us before work is approved. After repair we may test relevant device functions to confirm the work. Any commercial repair warranty we offer is additional to, and does not replace, statutory consumer rights. A warranty can exclude new accidental damage, liquid damage or unrelated faults, but it cannot remove rights you have under law for the service we supplied.
Cancellation of online repair bookings
If you book a repair at a distance, statutory cancellation rights may apply. For a service contract, the usual cancellation period is 14 days from entering the contract, subject to the Consumer Contracts Regulations and their exceptions. If you expressly ask us to begin a service during that period and then cancel after work has begun, the law can require payment for the service supplied up to cancellation. A cancellation right can also be lost once a service has been fully performed where the legal requirements for early performance and acknowledgement are met.
Because our standard flow confirms the exact repair and price before chargeable repair work starts, contact us as soon as possible if you want to cancel. Any refund of a payment already made will be handled according to the work actually supplied and your statutory rights.
Liability & statutory rights
We do not exclude or restrict liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or statutory consumer rights. Where we breach the repair contract, we are responsible for reasonably foreseeable loss caused by that breach. Nothing here prevents you from seeking the remedies available under UK consumer law.
