These terms apply when you ask The Device Hub Technology Limited trading as The Device Hub to buy a device from you or apply its value towards a trade-in upgrade.

Who can submit a device

  • You must be entitled to sell or trade the device and must provide accurate information about its ownership, condition and history.
  • The device must not be reported lost or stolen and must not be subject to unpaid finance, hire-purchase ownership restrictions or another person's rights that prevent you transferring it.
  • We may refuse, pause or report a transaction where ownership, identity, fraud, theft or legal concerns reasonably arise.

Identity & ownership checks

New website sell and trade-in requests require device photograph(s), an accepted form of photo ID (currently a driving licence or passport), a signature and an ownership declaration. These checks support identity, ownership and fraud-prevention controls. How we use and retain this information is explained in our Privacy Policy.

Valuation & inspection

  • An initial website or staff offer is provisional until the device has been received and inspected.
  • Condition, functionality, battery health, specification, locks, network/finance status and other relevant factors can affect the final value.
  • If inspection shows a material difference from the information supplied, we may issue a revised offer. You are not required to accept a revised offer.
  • An offer expires when its stated validity period ends unless we agree otherwise.

Sending a device to us

  • For an accepted postal request, use the prepaid label and packing instructions we provide unless we expressly agree another method.
  • Package the device securely, remove SIM and memory cards, keep proof of posting, and do not include unrelated accessories.
  • If a parcel sent using our supplied label is lost or damaged, contact us promptly so we can investigate with the carrier. Carrier compensation terms do not remove any rights or obligations that apply by law.
  • If you independently arrange a different carrier, responsibility for pursuing that separate carrier contract normally rests with the person who arranged it, subject to any separate agreement and applicable law.

Acceptance, payment & trade-in credit

  • No final sale is completed merely because an initial offer is displayed. The final inspected value must be accepted through the applicable journey.
  • For sell requests, payment is made using the method agreed for the transaction after the final value has been accepted and the required checks are complete.
  • For trade-ins, the accepted value is applied as credit to the selected upgrade. If the credit is less than the upgrade price (plus any applicable delivery charge), you pay the balance before fulfilment.
  • If trade-in credit would exceed the value being applied to the upgrade, the treatment of that excess must be confirmed in the offer or transaction before completion. Do not assume an excess cash payment unless it is expressly offered.

Your data on the device

Please back up anything you need and remove personal accounts, activation locks, SIM cards and memory cards before transfer where possible. We may securely erase/reset a device as part of processing it after the transaction reaches the appropriate stage. You remain responsible for retaining your own copy of information you need. Nothing in these terms excludes liability where it cannot lawfully be excluded.

If a transaction cannot proceed

If you decline a revised offer or we cannot proceed after receiving a postal device, we will tell you the available next steps, including any return arrangement and any charge that was clearly agreed in advance. We will not use hidden terms to remove statutory rights.
